The Courses

Dementia Awareness

This course is designed for any health or social care professional working with dementia sufferers. The course covers Dementia and associated conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. You will learn how to manage dementia and with a greater awareness of the sensitive issues faced by individuals and their families. This course can be used as an introduction or refresher course for new employees and those seeking to update their knowledge.

Food Safety Awareness

This course is designed for any professional working with or around food. You will learn a general understanding of food safety practice including safe cleaning products, temperature control, sanitisation and maintaining hygiene of premises, equipment and employees.

Infection Control Awareness

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn the importance of infection control measures and the responsibilities or managing this, through practical skills in line with industry standards and guidelines set out by leading organisations like the World Health Organisation.

Challenging Behaviour

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn how to identify and diffuse difficult or threatening situations, that may include aggression, intimidation and other types of challenging behaviour using simple intervention techniques. You will understand the importance of understanding body language, de-escalation skills and recognising triggers to challenging behaviour, enabling employees to be proactive rather than reactive in challenging behaviour situations wherever possible.

Person Centred Care

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn how to see your patients as unique individuals, to develop suitable interventions to match any specific patient requirements, as well as the skills to create specific confidential care plans for your patients.

SOVA Awareness

This course is designed to highlight the importance of safeguarding vulnerable adults amongst staff in a range of care settings. You will learn about current practices and laws to ensure you implement industry standard adult protection policies and procedures. The course will be delivered in accordance with the latest associated legislation for your specific client group.

Risk Assessment Awareness

This course is designed for those in a senior, managerial or supervisor level involved in workplace risk assessment. You will learn a general understanding of risk assessment concepts and processes, and the skills needed to apply these learnings in a working environment.

Equality & Diversity Awareness

This course is designed to provide employees with an understanding of how the values, opinions and prejudices of an individual can influencer those around them, and how this can lead to discrimination. You will learn the value of equality and diversity and how to promote equal opportunities in the working environment.

Medication Awareness

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn a practical understanding of the procedures you must follow to ensure that medication is administered safely and in accordance with current legislation. You will understand the importance of confidentiality and information security in drug administration, as well as the practical issues associated with this.

Care Planning Awareness

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn how to plan, implement and review care plans. You will understand how you can work with other professionals to improve teachings and give guidance on how to make initial assessments.

Mental Capacity Act & DOLS

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DOLS) were introduced with the aim of reinforcing the protection of vulnerable adults in care settings. You will come awards with an understanding of how you can ensure your daily tasks comply with both acts.

Health & Safety Awareness

This course is designed for those in a senior, managerial or supervisor level responsible for the health and safety in a workplace. You will learn how to undertake risk assessments, report accidents and implement preventative measures in the workplace.

Pressure Sore Awareness

This course is designed for any health or social care professional. You will learn the essentials of pressure sore care, industry standard prevention methods, the factors which can lead to development of pressure sores, how to identify infection and how they are treated.

Advanced Medication Awareness

This course is designed for senior carers or supervisory level team members who are involved in assisting with medication. You will learn the importance of recording and reporting administration of medicines and risk or errors, as well as different types of medication, how they are administered and how they are disposed correctly.

Assessment

Attendees will be observed and will need to be deemed confident and competent in all practical elements, skills and knowledge.

All Course Requirements

Candidates need a good understanding of English. Candidates must be physically able to demonstrate any practical skills required to complete the assessment.
